The days between Christmas and New Year's Eve are strange and rather empty. In time gone by, festivities in midwinter lasted many days. Farmers could not work in the fields and soldiers could not fight. They had enough time! (There was no end to the women's work, of course.) There were twelve days of Christmas, even before there was Christmas - eating, drinking, singing, dancing and more!

It's a good time today for playing and doing a jigsaw puzzle with the grandchildren. I shall start reading my new book. It is written by a friend.
