November is a short month. It has thirty days. But it isn't the shortest - that is February. That only has twenty-eight days (except in a leap year). Today, the last day of this month, is special for Scotland. Happy St Andrew's Day to everyone. Andrew is Scotland's patron saint.

De Sadorn, nawes warn ügens mis Dû Saturday, 29th November Ma lies pobel ow trîvya aga vanys ha kerry re üskis e'n vorrow bian. Diantel ew rag marhogyon ha marhogesow. Ma own dhe'm kentrevogesow rag aga mergh. Ma othom dhodhans a gemeres gwith. Ma arwòdh e'n ke:"Danjer. Mergh en fordh. Entrans cüdhys." Saw cüdhys ew an arwòdh y honan gen an ke. An dorgeun a dal kebmer gwith e'n vorr, ewedh. There are many people who drive their vans and cars too fast on little roads. It's dangerous for horse riders. My neighbours are scared for the horses. They have to take care. There's a sign in the hedge: "Danger. Horses on road. Concealed entrance". But the sign itself is concealed by the hedge. The badgers should  take care in the road, too.

Our language will be protected through Part Three of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. Cornish will have the same status as the other Celtic languages of  the British Isles - Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Irish and Manx Gaelic. Cornish has been covered until now by Part Two - but Part Three will be more extensive. What will be done by the Government to support our language? We shall see!

We need more people speaking...

De Sadorn, nessa warn ügens mis Dû Saturday, 22nd November Puppres en Redrüdh theram o qweles an keun. Thens Keun an Stenoryon po Keun Geevor, gwres gen David Kemp. "Whel an Gever" a veu degëys ha thera lies botas rubber dres othom. Keniver kei a veu formys gen seyth botas, nena "cast" en brons. Brons ew kesolcan a sten ha cober. Pur fytty ew hedna dhe verkya an tremenyans radn brâs hag a bris story Kernow. Hedhyw ma pub hond ow tegy myllys ewedh rag cova tüs bal ledhys en bel.      Always in Redruth I see the dogs. They are the Tinners' Hounds or The Hounds of Geevor, made by David Kemp. "The Goats' Mine" was closed and there were lots of redundant rubber boots. Each dog was formed with seven boots, then cast in bronze. Bronze is an alloy of tin and copper. That is very appropriate to mark the passing of a large and important part of Cornwall's history. Today every hound is also wearing poppies in remembrance of miners killed in war.

Nebes plansow bythwer (prest gwer) ew gwer po gwerwyn. Heb del glas nag ew an gwedh glas, ha nei ell gweles form an barrednow noth bedn a ebòrn. Nag eus del glas war wedhen-ven ha scorednow brâs an cypreswedhen goth brâs. Thens pecar'a eskern cadnys.  I'm obsessed with the winter sun, a sun low and bright. It brings sparkling colours. There is silver on top of my dark green pine trees. There are many types of green, "glas" is not an adequate word. Some evergreen plants are bright green or light green. Without green leaves the trees are not green, and we can see the form of the bare branches against the sky. There are no leaves on the trunk and big branches of the big old cypress. They are like bleached bones.

Thens bolta po creffa. There is a nip in the air, but there is beauty among the coldness. There is sun between sharp wintry showers. Is this hail or snow. It sparkles like diamonds in the sunshine. It will soon be gone from view. The ice on glass roofs is like lace. All the little birds are sheltered in the hedge, but I can see two wood pigeons. They are bolder or stronger.

What is the food like here? What shall I eat? I like fish and chips. Is the fish cod? Is there something vegan for my wife and prawns for my sister? There's an old saying: Don't drink too much, but drink for your thirst. And that, more of less, will keep your body healthy! I must drink water.
